About The Position

Northern Manufacturing, a worldwide leader in stainless steel fabrication, is seeking a mechanically inclined, hands-on technician to join our team on 3rd shift. 3rd Shift Hours: 7:30pm to 6:00am, Monday-Thursday This is a hands-on position focused on custom, complex projects. This is not a repetitive assembly line job. You’ll be working on unique, one-of-a-kind metal fabrication projects after the welding phase. We’re looking for a problem-solver with a mechanical mindset, capable of adapting to new challenges every day, and working both independently and collaboratively to bring unique customer projects to life. At Northern Manufacturing, no two days are the same. You'll be working on unique, challenging projects that require creativity, adaptability, and a strong mechanical aptitude. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys solving problems, using their hands, and taking pride in helping make high-quality products.

Requirements

  • Mechanically inclined with experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints (preferred).
  • Understanding of metal components and fabrication environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, self-starting mindset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Forklift experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Install and assemble mechanical components for custom-fabricated projects (gearboxes, motors, drums, etc.).
  • Interpret mechanical blueprints to follow detailed build instructions and ensure proper installation of parts.
  • Complete trial-fit of large scale projects prior to shipping to customer.
  • Inspect your work and collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality, accurate builds.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during the build process.
  • Perform a variety of hands-on tasks such as finishing edges, tapping holes, and operating small equipment.
  • Operate forklifts and other tools and equipment to move material and parts safely through the shop.
  • Operate overhead cranes to complete complex rigging.
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.
