Boeing Technology Innovation (BTI) is currently seeking a highly experienced Mechanical and Assembly Engineer (MP&P) to support the Laser and Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS) organization located in Albuquerque, NM. The MP&P Engineer will provide technical leadership in M&P for the design, development, and manufacturing of cutting-edge adaptive optics and optical imaging systems. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels Senior and Lead MP&P Engineer. Position Responsibilities Knowledge of assembly and production processes, manufacturing capabilities (e.g., composites, structures), and data needed for defining delivery configurations (e.g., design definition, program directives, engineering drawings, change memos, wiring diagrams and schematics, functional tests, supplier data). Ability to differentiate production (manufacturing) processes and requirements from in-service procedures and requirements. Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems. The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products. Knowledge of material processing for metals (e.g., welding forging, heat treat, machining, forming), polymers and composites (e.g., autoclave curing, lay-up, co-curing, repair), sealants and finishes processing (e.g., plating, painting, surface preparation, fay surface sealing, fillet sealing), and ceramic (e.g., high temperature processing, machining) and electronic materials (e.g., soldering, printed circuit board cleaning, conformal coating). Knowledge of methods, techniques and test procedures to characterize electromagnetic, optical, thermal, mechanical, metallurgical and physical properties. Ability to apply knowledge of materials engineering and scientific principles to develop, design, analyze, test, and validate solutions for complex systems, sub-systems and designs. Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.
