About The Position

This full-time hourly position is for a Microwave Tube Generalist at the Torrance, CA location, responsible for building sub-assemblies for traveling wave tube (TWT) products used in military applications, specifically cathodes and cathode sub-assemblies that power TWTs.

Requirements

  • Must be able to accurately read blueprints, assembly instructions, and other related documentation
  • Experience using basic hand tools
  • 20/20 eyesight (corrected) and good hand-eye coordination are necessary
  • ability to work with small parts and hand tools under a microscope for extended periods of time
  • Good math skills to carry out basic calculations and measurements are required
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is needed
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance is required

Nice To Haves

  • Computer data input skills are helpful
  • Knowledge of the use of torque tools, feeler gauges, micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators is a plus
  • Knowledge of foreign object debris (FOD) control and tool control processes is desirable
  • 1-3 years of operations or manufacturing-related work experience
  • general knowledge of mechanical assembly processes and procedures
  • previous precision mechanical assembly experience preferred
  • Previous aerospace soldering experience and certification is a plus
  • Experience working in a clean room is helpful

Responsibilities

  • building sub-assemblies for traveling wave tube (TWT) products used for radio frequency amplification in military applications
  • building cathodes, and cathodes sub-assemblies that power TWTs
  • follow detailed process instructions using microscopes, resistance welders, a variety of hand tools and measuring devices as well as running sputtering equipment and furnaces
  • ensure that quality, cost, and production goals are met
