A Mechanical Assembler assembles products according to blueprints, technical specifications, and work instructions. They must have a keen eye for detail and possess the technical knowledge necessary to assemble complex subassemblies, machinery, and other products within our product line. What you’ll do:

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • (1) to (3) years’ experience with manufacturing assembly and a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical specifications, and work instructions
  • Must be able to work with and lift 35 lbs. throughout the work shift
  • Must be able to work at heights (with PPE), in tight spaces, and at levels below the knee throughout the work shift
  • Proficient with powered hand tools
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, an independent environment, and with minimal supervision at times
  • Experience modifying mechanical parts (drilling, cutting, tapping, milling, etc.)
  • Forklift/Scissor lift experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Binks safety policies, procedures, and PPE
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and work instructions
  • Mechanically assemble large assemblies and subassemblies utilizing power tools, hoists, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other necessary equipment for the assembly process
  • Aligns components and assembles together with bolts, screws, AVK’s, or rivets and power tools
  • Maintain and develop technical information, work instructions, and standard work to document and improve the assembly process
  • Utilize production equipment including, but not limited to powered hand tools, drill presses, tapping equipment, grinders, punch presses, riveting equipment, and other equipment as specified
  • Mounts and connects auxiliary, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment
  • Custs and fits pipes, tubing, and natural gas lines
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical impasses during the assembly process
  • Installs moving parts such as shafts, levers, or bearings and works them to ensure free movement
  • Assist with testing and operation of completed product
  • Perform quality control checks throughout the assembly process
  • Responsible for maintaining the work area including component and tool inventory and tool functionality
  • Able to mentor, train, and share knowledge with your peers and newer employees
  • Participate in root cause and corrective action regarding quality improvements and findings
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and projects
  • Other job duties as assigned by supervisor
