Talgo, Inc. has immediate openings for experienced and motivated Mechanics to join the team in Milwaukee, WI. We are seeking individuals with a mechanical mindset and an interest in working with train cars. Talgo will provide specific training on the equipment for individuals who have the right attitude, basic manufacturing experience, and the willingness and ability to learn new skills quickly! The Mechanical Assembler position involves various duties and responsibilities, including the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul of rail cars and systems as directed. This role requires a strong mechanical background to work on train car underframes, including de-trucking, re-trucking, coupler assembly and disassembly, and brake assembly/disassembly. The job entails fabricating and installing seats, working on interior/exterior trim, conducting outbound inspections, and inspecting and installing trucks and vestibules. Responsibilities also include measuring product dimensions using standard and metric rulers, following established Standard Work Instructions, and being involved in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts. The position requires performing in-process quality inspections and accurately filling out production paperwork. Daily inspections of vehicles, interpreting maintenance and operational manuals, and adhering to general housekeeping requirements are also part of the job. Additional tasks include inbound inspections, removal of seats, applying emergency equipment, dropping ceiling panels, renewing door operators, and testing air brake/door seals. Overall, the Mechanical Assembler role is crucial for ensuring the quality and functionality of rail cars, requiring attention to detail, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
