The Mechanical Assembler I (Overheat) position is a full-time role located at Kidde Aerospace in Wilson, NC. The job involves learning to set up, assemble, and conduct basic troubleshooting of machines and stations. The assembler will demonstrate the proper use of hand and machine tools, ensure quality product standards, and participate in continuous improvement plans. Responsibilities include maintaining inventory levels, rotating workstations, and completing all job duties within the scope of the job description. The position supports department objectives and individual growth opportunities.

  • Learn to set up, assemble, conduct basic troubleshooting of the station/machine, and load parts.
  • Demonstrate the proper use of simple hand and machine tools.
  • Learn to accurately read and follow procedures, routing, and other work instructions.
  • Responsible for quality product standards with no defects.
  • Identify part defects and escalate as needed.
  • Build conforming parts while maintaining target output adherence.
  • Comply with applicable elements of quality systems.
  • Participate in cost reduction plans and continuous improvement plans/events.
  • Participate in audits with positive communication practices.
  • Acquire and maintain applicable skills/knowledge/certifications.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of all materials at the workstation.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in coordination with 5S and cleanliness standards.
  • Rotate to different workstations throughout the shift as business needs change.
  • Complete all job duties and responsibilities within the scope and skill level of the job description.
  • Check work methods and results for conformance to standards and routers.
  • Communicate nonconformances as required.
  • Report to the lead or supervisor on work progress and updates.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience are required.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations.
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with interpreting schematics and/or technical drawings.
  • Experience reading and/or interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Intermediate computer skills in terms of typing, navigating screens, and learning new software programs.
