About the position

The Mechanical Apprentice - Pipefitter position involves assisting a licensed Pipefitter in the installation, maintenance, and inspection of HVAC, Utility, and Process Piping Systems. This entry-level role is designed for individuals who are enrolled in a trade school or apprenticeship program and are looking to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist a licensed Pipefitter in the installation and maintenance of HVAC, Utility, and Process Piping Systems.
• Work on systems including Heating Hot Water, Chilled Water, Steam, Condensate, Compressed Air, Process Fluids, Chemical, and Fuel oil.
• Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe to required angles using hand or power tools.
• Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, or fixtures in structures using measuring instruments.
• Test pipes or fixtures for leaks using various methods.
• Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering, or brazing equipment.
• Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, or fixtures using hand or power tools.
• Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality standards.
• Participate in site housekeeping and interact with co-workers in a courteous manner.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Enrolled in trade school and/or apprenticeship program.
• Highly focused on customer satisfaction expectations.
• Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
• Valid OSHA 10 certification.
