About The Position

The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting cooperative equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation across all CVA locations. This role supports daily business needs by performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and keeping fleet and operational equipment in optimal working condition. The Mechanic works closely with the VP of Fleet Management, location management, and operations teams to reduce downtime, improve equipment performance, and maintain accurate service documentation.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years tire related experience preferred.
  • High School or GED diploma.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Knowledge of DOT or DOT experience preferred.
  • Welding, diagnostics, or CDL preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and establish effective working relationships with internal operations and external customers.
  • Great basic mechanical skills.
  • Computer skills, ability to read schematics and manuals.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Works in a way that demonstrates safety is a priority. Promotes a work environment that is safe for everyone.

  • Ability to multi-task several assignments simultaneously and establish job priorities.
  • Ability to stand, lift 50+ pounds, walking, climbing, kneeling, exposure to weather, dust, noise, chemicals and fumes.
  • Works well with others to achieve a common goal.

Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment maintenance and repairs, diagnose engine, hydraulic, and electrical system repairs and assist with major overhauls.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, agronomy equipment, grain handling machinery, and other cooperative equipment.
  • Prioritize repairs with the operations teams, assist with parts ordering and inventory.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance documentation, workorders and equipment history.
  • Use diagnostic tools and stay updated on maintenance software and equipment technologies.
  • Communicate clearly with drivers and operators for equipment care.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Promote CVA Safety culture along with OSHA and DOT standards.
  • Assist with DOT inspections, seasonal equipment readiness, and emergency parts.
  • Support operational teams during peak seasonal periods with the ability to be in other locations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
