About The Position
Hershey’s Ice Cream is a family-owned and operated company that has been making quality ice cream for over 125 years. As a Production Mechanic, you will be working in a fast-paced environment, expected to work in a variety of roles ensuring the safe and effective operation of multiple ice cream production machines. Production Mechanics are responsible for maintaining the highest quality of food safety standards, sanitation standards, and professionalism. Information Consistent Schedule – Average a 40-50 hour workweek each week, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday Production Days (all overtime) 1st Shift Schedule – 5am to 2pm or completion. Consistent Overtime Pay – overtime after 40 hours each week Earn $26.47/hour after training period. Paid training and incremental raises with training. 100% Company-Paid healthcare and life insurance for the employee 401K with company match. Seven paid holidays.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age, with a High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes
- Must be able to work pre-scheduled Day or Night shifts – schedules created with plenty of notice
- Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions in English with high level of detail
- Physical requirements: ability to work 8+ hour shifts, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time and perform repetitive motions
- Must be able to work in an environment with varying hot (110 degrees) and cold (-40 degrees) temperatures
- Must be able to get to work independently on time, every day
Nice To Haves
- Experience or training in manufacturing/food manufacturing or supply-chain environment is preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of all plant process and materials handling equipment
- Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment within the facility such as motors, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment
- Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools
- Be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and engineering drawings
- Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating with workers, leaders, and production supervisors
- Initiate purchase orders or work orders for parts, tools, and machines
- Performs at reasonable speeds, taking full advantage of the equipment available
- Communicates issues with equipment, machinery, ingredients or product to supervisors clearly and immediately
- Maintains an understanding of the flow of work on the production floor, from staging, through production, to storage
- Completes required paperwork properly, and understands the content
- Shows a basic understanding and application of in-house asset management software
- Understands and shows the ability to abide by applicable OSHA standards and environmental regulations
- Observe all safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and good housekeeping practices
- Acts with quality, safety, and teamwork in mind at all times
- Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisors or Plant Management
