About The Position

The Recycling Plant Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment used in recycling operations to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production. This role supports plant uptime by performing preventive maintenance and responding to mechanical breakdowns.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as an industrial, plant, or maintenance mechanic (recycling, manufacturing, or similar environment preferred)
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and conveyors
• Basic welding and fabrication skills preferred
• Ability to read manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in industrial environments with noise, dust, and moving equipment

Nice To Haves

• Basic welding and fabrication skills preferred
• 2+ years of experience as an industrial, plant, or maintenance mechanic (recycling, manufacturing, or similar environment preferred)

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues on recycling equipment, including conveyors, balers, shredders, compactors, screens, and sorting systems
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery, motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulic systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues
• Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns
• Replace or repair defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
• Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and plant policies
• Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime
• Assist with equipment installations and upgrades as needed
