About The Position
Our Mechanic is an integral position within the Parks Department in the Deerfield Park District. This role is responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs on all park maintenance equipment and vehicles, as well as other mechanical equipment at pools and other facilities as directed. Under the supervision of the Faculties and Trades Manager, the Mechanic performs essential maintenance tasks and may occasionally supervise full and part-time maintenance staff.
Requirements
- 18+ years old.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 2+ years automotive repair experience.
- Valid Class B CDL.
Responsibilities
- Schedule/perform preventative maintenance (fluids, tires, filters) on vehicles, mowers, tractors, etc.
- Conduct emergency repairs in field.
- Inspect/repair engines, systems, ignitions, lighting; weld/fabricate steel.
- Maintain records; recommend purchases; coordinate inspections.
- Winterize/service equipment; assist with pools; manage inventory.
- Perform snow removal; continue education.
- Repair buildings, irrigation; other duties.
