About The Position

The Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting the vehicle's mechanical components and its engine, diagnosing problems with vehicles, and performing maintenance and repair work on cars, trucks, and other vehicles.

Requirements

  • 2 years of working experience in the mechanical field, experience in brakes, suspension, etc.
  • Must have a strong commitment to achieving goals with a teamwork mentality
  • Must have great communication/interpersonal skills
  • Must be motivated with a good business sense and understanding
  • Must have good decision-making/judgment skills
  • Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must be a team player, with the initiative and ability to do what it takes to get the job done
  • Computer skills with a variety of programs, including Excel, Outlook, and various other computer systems
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must be a self-starter, be willing to take initiative, and be willing to work without direct supervision
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds as required for the job
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and work independently on tight deadlines with multiple priorities

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Certification is a plus.
  • 2 years' experience working in the tire industry preferred but not required
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Active participation in East Bay Tire's Safety program to maintain a healthy and injury-free environment
  • Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth
  • Supply their own tools that are needed to perform the mechanical work for which they have ASE certifications.
  • Experience operating and using basic Specialized equipment such as lifts, alignment machine's, battery charger/tester, AC recycler, Etc., to be supplied by East Bay Tire Co.
  • Supply own hand tools, small equipment, and perform all mechanical works as assigned for given work location.
  • Keep the shop and surrounding area clean and always maintained
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • All tools and equipment should be put away and cleaned after use.
  • Always maintain a safe work area and report any safety issues immediately.
  • Wear proper PPE as required for the work being performed.
  • Perform all mechanical work in which you are certified.
  • You must maintain minimum ASE certifications in brakes and suspension and steering.
  • Must be able to properly look up labor hours using computer software provided by the company (Mitchell). Training will be provided if necessary.
  • Must be able to properly diagnose mechanical issues
  • Ability to perform tire-related job duties as required or as needed, if no mechanical work is available
  • Turn in service orders to be invoiced
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of products and services to provide accurate information to customers
  • Adherence to company and safety policies and procedures
  • East Bay Tire Co. is not responsible for lost, broken, or stolen tools. It is the responsibility of the mechanic to ensure that tools are properly stored and locked up.
