About The Position

Waste Connections in Brooklyn is seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanic to join our growing maintenance team. We're looking for individuals who prioritize safety, take pride in their work, and understand how critical their role is to support our drivers and the service we provide to the community.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of mechanic experience, preferably with diesel trucks
Valid CDL class A license (preferred)
Ability to speak and understand English fluently
Comfortable using computers and diagnostic software
Proven skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and welding repairs
Familiarity with diesel vehicle diagnostics and preventative maintenance
Basic tool set required
Ability to work independently and respond to emergency calls
Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork

Nice To Haves

Valid CDL class A license (preferred)

Responsibilities

Perform inspections, repairs, and diagnostics on diesel vehicles, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
Interpret vehicle computer system failure codes and make necessary adjustments to engine and vehicle control modules
Respond promptly to roadside service calls for emergency repairs
Review and complete repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
Accurately document services using fleet maintenance software
Conduct post-service test drives to ensure safety and performance
Collaborating with teammates on complex repairs
Maintain professional, courteous communication with drivers
Keep workspaces clean and compliant with OSHA standards
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
