This role is responsible for ensuring the proper mechanical functioning of diesel trucks, heavy equipment, and plant equipment and machinery for the production of concrete and aggregates. Under the immediate direction of the Equipment Manager, Mechanic will also work with local General Managers and Plant Operators to address and resolve mechanical issues in a timely manner to minimize the disruption to business.

  • Observes and listens to trucks/equipment in operation to determine malfunctions.
  • Use diagnostic software to do advanced troubleshooting.
  • Reads manuals, uses hand tools, power tools to perform repairs and maintenance to electrical systems, power transmissions, brakes, drivelines and other automotive systems to perform repair work.
  • Replaces rollers and other wear items as required.
  • Performs welding, repair and fabrication.
  • Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
  • Perform conveyer set up and repair.
  • Responsible for plant systems troubleshooting.
  • Performs data entry on all services performed.
  • Operates mobile equipment as needed.
  • Delivers technical advice to drivers, equipment operators, and plant operators.
  • Maintains parts inventory and orders of parts and supplies as needed.
  • Demonstrates good knowledge of lock out/tag out procedure required during certain procedures.
  • May make service calls at other plants or emergency roadside repairs as needed.
  • Available for frequent 24-hour on call during peak production times.
  • Able to travel throughout designated region on a daily basis to assist with repairs as needed.
  • Assists with training co-workers as needed.
  • General clean-up of work areas.
  • Follows safety policies and procedures as written.
  • Participates in the shop safety program and conduct tailgate safety meeting.
  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Properly follows all company policies and OSHA / MSA regulations for safe working procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years Mobile Equipment Maintenance Experience, Ready Mix Maintenance experience preferred.
  • Trade School or related mechanical / technical certification preferred.
  • Maintain a current Driver's License (CDL) and safe driving record.
  • Knowledge of repair and maintenance of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, transmissions, brakes, drivelines and other automotive systems to perform repair work.
  • Basic welding skills.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
