About the position

Hittle Landscaping is seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our large fleet of trucks, trailers, and landscaping equipment. You will work alongside a team of 4 other mechanics in a fully equipped 4-bay service and repair shop, playing a vital role in ensuring our operations run smoothly and safely. Hittle Landscaping is a family-owned business headquartered in Westfield, with 3 additional branches serving central Indiana for over 50 years. We pride ourselves on our great company culture and a team of over 265 employees, and we are continuously growing!

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on work trucks, skid steers, zero-turn mowers, and other landscaping equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on all vehicles and machinery.
• Keep accurate records of repairs, parts, and maintenance schedules.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Work with operations and field crews to schedule and prioritize repairs.
• Ensure all equipment meets safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a mechanic, ideally in construction or similar industries (3+ years' experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of engines, hydraulics, diesel and gas-powered equipment.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals and diagrams.
• Basic welding and fabrication skills a plus.
• Valid driver's license (for field service calls).
• Ability to lift 45+ lbs. for typical shop environment.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and a team worker.
