Requirements

  • Two (2) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Ability to provide own tools.
  • Welding and fabricating experience required.
  • Acceptable results of a DOT physical.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, or older.
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance/repair on all electric, diesel, and gasoline powered trucks and equipment.
  • Work with shop welder and tire hand to cross-train as necessary to keep trucks and trailers in continuous operation.
  • Keep records of parts and supplies used on equipment and reports to foreman; notify foreman when parts, supplies, and equipment are needed.
  • Observe and listen to defective equipment to determine cause of trouble or nature and extent of equipment damage. Uses discretion in repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts as necessary; reports major problems to supervisor and repairs, overhauls, or replaces parts as directed.
  • Inspect trucks, equipment, and machinery to diagnose defects and verify repairs.
  • Mix, utilize, dispense, and/or properly dispose of volatile compounds including fuels, lubricants, and solvents; reads and is knowledgeable of Material Safety Data Sheets for any such materials and knows proper handling/disposal requirements for substances requiring specialized handling/disposal.
  • Keep work area clean by sweeping and discarding used material properly and storing tools and supplies.
