About The Position

Empire Cat is seeking seasoned shop and field technicians/mechanics with experience in similar heavy equipment dealerships. The technicians will provide service, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair for malfunctions and/or failures of key systems and components on machinery and equipment produced by Caterpillar. The position requires maintaining knowledge of On-Highway truck brands for diesel, electrical, air, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. Technicians will work in a rewarding environment, committed to providing the best level of service for clients.

Requirements

  • At least six months of related experience in a similar role and environment.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
  • Keep safety as a priority in the work environment.
  • Ability to successfully complete a skills assessment (eTRAIN test).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Own and maintain required personal tools.

Nice To Haves

  • At least five years heavy equipment technician experience, preferably in a dealership environment.
  • Caterpillar work experience.
  • Proficient in rebuilding/repairing machinery including hydraulics, electrical, powertrain, engines, and Tier IV Emissions systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain mid to extensive working knowledge of Caterpillar, Empire Allied machinery, as well as other On-Highway manufacturer component functions.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
  • Maintain good customer relations and support for corporate marketing objectives.
  • Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete jobs accurately and timely.
  • Perform Federally Required DOT Annual Truck and Trailer inspections.
  • Work safely at all times and adhere to all applicable safety policies.
  • Provide on-the-job training to technicians and helpers as assigned.
  • Travel to remote locations and work overtime as needed.
