About The Position

The Mechanic Specialist position will be based out of Aurora, CO. This position reports to a Crew Leader to ensure consistency in maintenance practices and detailed computer documentation. These duties include assessing the condition of engine and compressor components as well as performing the required maintenance based on company standards and original manufacturer's specifications. A typical work schedule is Monday through Thursday, ten hours per day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance of reciprocating/centrifugal compressor units.
  • Experience with turbine engines and natural gas compressors, auxiliary engines, and related equipment preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver license, and maintain a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of compressor engines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in heavy maintenance related to engine/compressor units.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain natural gas plant equipment, pumps, exchangers, compressors, and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and light industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret various company policies and procedures, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manual and blueprints.
  • Ability to respond in a timely manner to any emergency or after-hours calls.
  • Good communication skills - must be able to interface effectively with many internal and external customers, regulatory officials, company contacts and co-workers.
  • Must have detailed knowledge of mechanical equipment, internal combustion engines, gas turbines, pumps, compressors, and related equipment.
  • Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, operating systems, company software if applicable), trainable to custom software applications.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Customer focus.
  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to required work schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment and/or auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform heavy mechanical maintenance and replacement of reciprocating and turbine engines and compressors, including prime movers and auxiliary units.
  • Based on experience, mentor team mates and other company personnel on proper operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Identify, report, and assist in correcting safety and environmental concerns.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork timely and accurately.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
  • Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of performance.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Overtime may be required and is anticipated.
  • Required to carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Act as a company representative when interacting with contractors and vendors.
  • Work effectively in a team atmosphere.
  • Be available for significant overnight travel, working other than normal hours, overtime, schedule changes, and the ability to respond to call-outs.
