About The Position

The Armstrong Company’s Mechanic's Helper will assist the Shop Manager with the day-to-day fleet maintenance. This role involves helping mechanics perform various maintenance and repair tasks such as tune-ups, oil changes, checking tires and brakes, and replacing spark plugs. The helper will also assist with electrical systems, including replacing batteries, starters, and lights. Additional duties include cleaning the shop, organizing tools, maintaining inventory of parts and equipment, and inspecting tools to ensure they are in working order.

Requirements

• Knowledge of vehicle repair.
• Excellent mechanical skills.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to use power and hand tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read service and repair manuals.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities

• Helps mechanic perform maintenance and repairs such as tune-ups and oil changes, checks tires and brakes, replaces spark plugs and engages in other similar tasks.
• Assists the mechanic with electrical systems such as replacing batteries, starters, and lights.
• Cleans the shop and returns tools to proper location.
• Maintains inventory of replacement parts and equipment.
• Inspects tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
