Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 5-7 years' experience in the operation of conventional and N/C turning, milling and boring machine tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using trigonometry as applied to machine parts.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and blueprints.
  • Experience reading and creating N/C programs on lathes, mills, and boring machine tools.
  • Experience performing offline and in-process machine set-ups.
  • Experience using precision measurement instruments to ensure requirements are met on the machine.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, type, and sequence of operations necessary to complete assignment with minimum machining and assembly time when planning information is not provided.
  • Plan feeds, speeds, work alignment and sequence of operations using shop mathematics, charts, tables and other aids such as sine bars, indexing mechanisms and auto-collimating equipment.
  • Layout machining guidelines and outlines on blank stock using precision measuring tools and scribes to locate and mark reference points.
  • Set up and operate various types of machine tools such as precision grinders, lathes, mills, boring machines and planners to make any cuts within the capacity of the machine.
  • Improvise and adapt tooling and holding fixtures as necessary.
  • Perform precision assembly and developmental work operations to exacting tolerances on complex and delicate subminiature parts, mechanisms and precision instruments.
