About The Position
The Mechanic/Marine Technician at TopSide Marinas is a vital role responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of marine engines and systems. This position requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and repairing various components of marinized engines, ensuring that all work meets customer satisfaction standards as well as the company's sales and safety requirements. The technician will be expected to work closely with the Service Advisor to prioritize tasks and manage workflow effectively. In this role, the technician will engage in a variety of tasks including diagnosing and repairing propulsion components such as gear cases and stern drives, as well as carbureted and fuel-injected intake systems. The technician will also be responsible for performing winterization and summarization of engines and boat systems, which is crucial for maintaining the longevity and reliability of marine equipment. A solid understanding of 12V and battery bank systems is essential, as the technician will operate diagnostic software to identify issues and implement solutions. Additionally, the technician will be involved in installations of new engines, pumps, and other components as assigned. Mechanical repairs on boat equipment, including water systems, waste systems, steering systems, and engine controls, will also be part of the job. The ability to demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills is critical, as the technician will often need to make quick decisions to ensure the safety and satisfaction of customers. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of the marine service environment.
