Who You Are: As a Mechanic, you will perform preventative maintenance, diagnosis, service and repair of steering, suspension, brakes, engines, transmissions, differentials, electrical, wheelchair lifts, and air conditioning systems. Successful applicants must be able to work safely, perform part analysis on damaged parts and assist in inventory control or other duties, as necessary. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Diagnoses, examines, and investigates vehicles to determine causes of defective operation of engines, transmissions, differential units, generators, starters, pumps, air suspensions systems, pneumatic systems, radiators, injectors, clutches, air conditioning systems, and other vehicle components. Determines proper course of action to facilitate vehicle repair, maintenance, adjustment, and component replacement. Maintains, adjusts and/or repairs all bus systems, components and parts including hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, front ends, air conditioning systems to ensure the operational fitness of the vehicle. Performs major overhauls, major tune-ups and repair to brakes and steering systems. Changes windows and seats, and performs minor body repair. Operate buses in order to diagnose component failure, make roadside repairs or move disabled buses/vehicles. Operates heavy machinery, hydraulic lifts, hoists and jacks, brake lathes Communicates and consults with all levels of employees. Respond to breakdowns. Mentors’ lower skill level technicians/mechanics Performs related duties as required. Document all activities in MV’s Fleet Management System. Maintain work environment in an organized and safe condition
