About The Position

The position involves repairing and maintaining agricultural machinery and vehicles, including tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems. The technician will be responsible for reassembling machines and equipment after repairs, testing operations, and making necessary adjustments. The role requires the use of various tools and equipment to repair or replace defective parts, as well as to fabricate new metal parts. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining records of repairs, parts used, and labor required, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and procedures.

Requirements

• Heavy duty diesel mechanic experience fixing equipment such as tractors, harvesters, seeders, and sprayers.
• Valid FL driver’s license, CDL preferred.
• Must have own tools.
• Certification/licensing preferred.
• Dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
• Familiarity with engine components and systems.
• Physical strength to lift and move heavy equipment, tools, and parts.
• Familiarity with diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Reassemble machines and equipment following repair; test operation; and make adjustments as necessary.
• Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders, or saws.
• Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools.
• Drive trucks to haul tools and equipment for on-site repair of large machinery.
• Fabricate new metal parts, using drill presses, engine lathes, and other machine tools.
• Record details of repairs made, parts used, labor required.
• Repair bent or torn sheet metal.
• Clean and lubricate parts.
• Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools.
• Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with operators to locate and diagnose malfunctions.
• Repair agricultural irrigation, plumbing, and sprinkler systems.
• Maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems.
