Position will be open until filled. We are currently seeking: A Mechanic IV to join our team and, under general supervision, maintain, repair and adjust City vehicles, equipment and machinery, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. Your responsibilities will include: Performing preventive maintenance on City vehicles to maximize the effective life cycle of the equipment. Diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems on vehicles and equipment; performing maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. Performing all phases of basic automotive maintenance, including tune-ups, trouble shooting and repairs, tire repairs, electrical diagnostics, brake work, engine diagnostics, hydraulics and lubrications. Diagnosing and repairing vehicle component systems, engines, transmissions, power trains, braking, and steering systems; uses technical manuals and computer equipment to diagnose and correct vehicle problems. Repairing electrical, fuel supply, brakes, air conditioning and engine cooling systems; performing emergency repairs in the field as required; installing auxiliary and specialized equipment; verifying equipment meets safety standards before returning to fleet operations. Performing mandated annual safety inspections for City vehicles. Performing welding tasks, fabricating and repairing metal parts and components. Ordering parts as needed, maintaining shop, yard, and equipment in clean and orderly condition. Maintaining work orders, recording and logging services performed and general vehicle information. Utilizing proper safety precautions in all work performed, recognizing, avoiding, and reporting unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries. Participating in continuing education and certification opportunities. Providing training and assistance to any Fleet Services employee Supervisory duties in the absence of Supervisor Completing additional training above Mechanic 3 requirements Hours: Monday through Friday 7:00am-4:00pm. Regular and timely attendance is required.
