Under close supervision, performs skilled work of moderate difficulty in the repair and preventive maintenance of cars, trucks, and vehicular equipment. This includes performing preventative maintenance, mechanical diagnosis, and repair of vehicles and equipment powered by gasoline and diesel, specifically heavy trucks of 26,001 GVW or more. The role also involves tire replacement and repairs on all vehicles and equipment, routine replacement of ground engaging wear parts, testing drive vehicles and equipment to substantiate deficiency complaints and effectiveness of repairs, and performing shop maintenance, clean-up, and safety. Field services on equipment and large trucks may also be required as needed. The position requires maintaining records of work performed on a computer and running basic reports regarding pending preventative maintenance due and repair history.
