About The Position

A Level II Mechanic is responsible for inspecting and repairing heavy-duty diesel engines, equipment and related systems. This position requires strong experience in working with heavy-duty trucks and equipment.

Requirements

  • Manages time effectively
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High School diploma or equivalent, technical training in diesel mechanics or related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years in diesel mechanics
  • Maintenance certifications in relevant areas; additional certifications for specific vehicle types or systems may be required
  • Basic understanding of using diagnostic software, mechanical tools and specialized equipment; strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various environmental conditions, and stand for extended periods.
  • This role may require working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements and system inspections.
  • Perform Federal Inspections and repair issues that are found during the inspection.
  • Perform brake inspections, adjustments and replacements.
  • Inspect and change tires as necessary.
  • Interpret and follow technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams for accurate repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work using maintenance management system.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Address any deficiencies or discrepancies promptly, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and vehicle/equipment safety.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly calibrated.
  • Communicate effectively with managers and Lead mechanic, providing detailed explanations of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance services.
  • Offer recommendations for future preventative maintenance or repairs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties assigned by the manager.
