About The Position

The Mechanic I Airframer (AM) NAMCE is responsible for servicing, repairing, and overhauling aircraft to ensure airworthiness. This includes repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft structures of moderate difficulty, such as wings, fuselage, surface controls, and functional components. The role requires the use of hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brakes, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills. The mechanic will read and interpret manufacturer's publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Inspections of airframe components for fluid leaks, cracks, and other damage are also part of the job. The mechanic will troubleshoot, remove, replace, and repair aircraft structural and hydraulic system components, and perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems. Certification as a CDI is required, and the ability to prioritize workload to maintain schedules and maintenance standards on assigned projects is essential.

Requirements

  • Must have 3 years O-level aircraft system maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required for maintenance tasks.
  • Shift work is required.
  • A&P License and/or Military rating for this position.
  • Preferred 18 months as a CDI, Quality Assurance Inspector, or Inspector Authorization (IA).
  • Minimum 36 months Organizational level Airframes Mechanic experience.
  • Preferred to have 24 months F/A-18 experience within the last 36 months.
  • Must complete CDI qualification syllabus within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties and able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to qualify in additional certifications such as Low Power Engine Turn-Up Operator (LPT) and High Power Engine Turn-Up Operator (HPT).
  • Must maintain clearance level required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and service the F/A-18 airframe and hydraulic systems/components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframes system principles to determine equipment malfunctions.
  • Evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production modifications.
  • Interpret manufacturer's manuals or similar documents to solve airframes system problems.
  • Work with ground support equipment, special calibration equipment, and special tools.
  • Inspect and maintain all company and customer assets, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in the investigation of any injury and/or resolution of quality or performance problems.
  • Train and qualify new personnel.
  • Promote communication to enhance employee awareness of accident prevention and quality of work.
  • Document training and attendance in a timely manner.
