About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is a member of the Golf Course Maintenance Team and maintains all golf course maintenance equipment, creating a foundation for team member safety and high quality. This position takes primary direction from the Equipment Manager and/or Assistant Superintendent, and coaches operators on safe and proper use of equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two to three years' experience as an Operator 3, or related experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of equipment, repairs needed, and maintenance required through references and work history.
  • Enjoys the game of golf and understands the need for attention to quality in daily maintenance to create optimal playing conditions.
  • Certificates, as required.
  • Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret schematics, reports, plans, labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), technical manuals, and regulatory documents.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service skills in dealing with team members and the public.
  • Must be able to lead by example by taking a proactive position to all issues concerning maintenance and the maintenance staff.
  • Must demonstrate initiative-ability to think, work, solve problems, and make independent decisions, based on sound judgment.
  • Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy and meeting timeliness is a must.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekend, with limited local travel.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) to support the achievement of company goals.
  • Understand the game of golf and the role of equipment maintenance in safety, quality, and aesthetics.
  • Communicate with the Lead Mechanic, Equipment Manager, or the Assistant Superintendent on daily/weekly work assignments to insure all equipment is available when needed.
  • Collaborate with the Equipment Manager to create capital equipment budgets and execute daily, monthly, and annual budgets.
  • Assist Supervisor or Equipment Manager to insure departmental compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment; ensure all equipment is being properly cleaned.
  • Assist with the implementation of a thorough preventative maintenance program for all equipment; identify and correct performance problems; complete repairs/adjustments.
  • Work in a safe manner and use all personal protective equipment (safety gear) assigned.
  • Be aware of safety requirements and report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor.
  • Help train staff members on safe and proper equipment operation; coach team members to be diligent with equipment care and operation; instill the importance of reporting all unsafe conditions.
  • Assist the Equipment Manager in reviewing operational challenges; recommend solutions.
  • Assist with maintaining records of repairs, equipment and parts inventory, preventative maintenance, and fuel/lubricate usage.
  • Maintain inventory and anticipate parts needed to maximize equipment operation and reduce downtime; assist Supervisor or Equipment Manager in considering parts needed.
  • Attend educational seminars to stay current with the leading technology and troubleshooting skills needed, as requested.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Benefits

  • New hourly full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment.
