About The Position

Industrial Maintenance Technicians repair, program, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and adjust equipment and machines to provide optimal performance.

Requirements

  • Three years of maintenance experience preferred, poultry experience highly desirable.
  • Associate's degree and certifications will be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Able to use manuals and measuring instruments to ensure optimum operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and listening for issues.
  • Able to remove defective parts by disassembling equipment using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools.
  • Problem sensitivity with the ability to recognize when something is wrong.
  • Need to be able to read/understand drawings including exploded views, orthographic views, and assembly drawings.
  • Perform general physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body.
  • Able and willing to lift between 40 - 60lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in extreme cold/hot environments.
  • Able to perform strenuous work in wet/damp environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) checks during the week, including temperature checks and visual inspections of all equipment.
  • Ensure optimum operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and processing machinery.
  • Document findings of weekday inspections on the PM route sheet for equipment.
  • Order parts for equipment and ensure the parts room has the correct parts.
  • Create a rebuild parts list for equipment.
  • Know the type of motor, belt, etc. that equipment needs to run efficiently.
  • Ensure all required PPE, locks, and correct parts are available before performing maintenance.
  • Tag or store removed parts for identification and possible repair.
  • Adjust process equipment/support system devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, lasers, and straightedges.
  • Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricate and repair parts using general machine shop, welding equipment, instrumentation, and equipment.
  • Read a tape measure and be familiar with fine measurements including the use of calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform operational checks on machinery after maintenance and ensure lockouts have been removed before leaving work areas.
