About The Position

The Mechanic - Fleet Maintenance position at VIA Metro Transit involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical failures in various vehicles and equipment, including revenue buses and paratransit vehicles. Requirements

• Ability to read and write English effectively.
• Ability to perform simple mathematics.
• Experience in specialized fields for Shop Repairman and Repairman Leaders.
• At least three years of full-time verifiable work experience as a mechanic or a relevant certificate for Shop Helpers.
• Possession of a Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (Class-B) before the end of the probationary period.
• Ability to operate and drive various vehicles safely.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a State Safety Vehicle Inspector.
• Completion of VIA's Targeted Maintenance Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures of revenue buses and related vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections on VIA owned equipment and facilities.
• Design and fabricate structures and equipment related to vehicle repair.
• Assist the Foreman in overseeing shop operations when required.
• Work under supervision as a Shop Helper, performing skilled work in vehicle maintenance.
