About The Position

DeLong Mountain Logistics provides logistics services for the Red Dog Mine, a world-class zinc mine located in Alaska, 150 miles north of the Artic Circle. Our services include hauling ore concentrates, transporting freight, and fuel transport operations. DeLong Mountain Logistics is a partnership between NANA Regional Corporation and Lynden Logistics.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in repairing and maintaining Class 8 tractors and trailers or equivalent combination of diesel training/schooling and on-the-job experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred.
  • Experience with Cummins, Detroit, and/or Caterpillar engine maintenance and repair.
  • Five years of experience and/or training on troubleshooting and repairing heavy duty air brake systems.
  • Experience adjusting and troubleshooting Eaton transmission and clutch adjustments.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics, repair manuals and job orders.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work alone or within a team environment.
  • Must be able to travel by plane and bus to our remote camps.
  • Possess a very strong safety culture.
  • Must meet Department of Transportation requirements and must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Employees must possess or able to obtain a brake certificate.

Nice To Haves

  • A Commercial Driver's License with Class A Air, Doubles, and Tanker endorsements is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain heavy industrial trucks and trailers, machinery, and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure that all equipment and safety devices are in good operating condition and adjust as needed, checking for loose bolts, structure cracks and worn components.
  • Repair or replace protective guards and other safety features as needed.
  • Comply with all company safety policies and Fit for Work policy, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Operate all company vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • Troubleshoot, find, and repair mechanical equipment as needed.
  • Inspect used parts and determine if they need replacement or can be reused.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Lubricate and clean parts.
  • Perform vehicle inspections, oil and filter changes and brake adjustments.
  • Grease components, check and repair lights and other electrical components, check and repair hydraulic systems to include making and replacing hydraulic hoses as needed.
  • Start and drive repaired equipment to verify performance of vehicles, conformance to specifications and success of repairs.
  • Complete job work orders using equipment maintenance system, recording materials used, type of work accomplished, and maintenance system codes.
  • Perform diagnostics using computers and software.
  • Assist with periodic inventory and equipment counts.
