About The Position

This position is a mechanic within the facilities department. When needed this position will occasionally drive our buses as well as working side by side with other facility employees. RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Functions – This employee will be primarily serving as a mechanic with occasional bus driving assignments. Maintain and repair buses, smaller vehicles. Help maintain a safe and dependable motor pool fleet. Maintain tools and supply inventory for HutchCC buses and vehicles. Transport college groups to functions, both in and out of town. The ability to adjust work schedule to maintain a minimum of 40 hours per week while minimizing overtime when possible. Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position. Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices. Serve actively on campus committees. Secondary – Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director or Coordinators of the Facilities Department. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS : Must possess or qualify to possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) plus the “P’ (Passenger) endorsement, airbrake qualification, and the DOT physical examination. A good driving record is required and will be checked . Must be a neat and clean individual, portraying a positive image to our students, faculty, staff, and community members. The ability to work effectively and professionally with students, staff, and others. Motor vehicle mechanic experience required. Motor vehicle chauffeur experience preferred. Physical requirements include excellent vision; hand and arm movements to shift, open door, etc., and the ability to assist with lifting heavy equipment (possibly up to 100 pounds or more). May work in adverse conditions such as driving in adverse weather conditions with possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissue, and communicable disease. The ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position. Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. Successful completion of a physical capacity and drug screen required. HOURLY WAGE and STATUS: The hourly rate of pay is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration.
