About The Position

Tessera is seeking a Mechanic, Body/Fender. The Mechanic, Body/Fender repairs damaged bodies and body parts of automotive vehicles, such as automobiles, buses, and light trucks according to repair manuals. Using hand tools and power tools, this position removes upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window and seat-operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fender. The Mechanic positions block against dented surfaces and uses hammers to reshape panels, filling depressions with solder or plastic materials to restore vehicle appearance and function. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Removes damaged fenders, panels, and grills, using wrenches and cutting torch, and bolts or welds replacement, straightens bent frames, using hydraulic jack and pulling device, files, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools. Refinishes repaired surface, using paint spray gun and sander, aims headlights, aligns wheels, bleeds hydraulic brake system, and may paint surface after performing body repairs. Perform body, fender, and mechanical repairs to ensure vehicles are safe, operational, and present a sightly appearance. Ensure accurate and efficient replacement of parts and repairs and/or adjustments to equipment. Ensures that all parts used are properly charged and that exchanged items are turned in to the storeroom or properly disposed of. Responsible for safe operations and proper care of materials, tools and equipment, and the maintenance of good house- keeping in the Vehicle Maintenance Facility. Ensure compliance with applicable Quality Assurance Programs. Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Corporate and Site rules and regulations, Labor Agreements and Site-wide operating policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma/GED
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Automotive Maintenance
  • Able to communicate with others in a courteous and helpful way.
  • Able to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals.
  • A valid state driver’s license is with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
