Under limited supervision, performs skilled work at the journeyman level including set up and tear down, troubleshooting, and repairing large scale industrial and commercial mechanical systems to include: compressors and air dryers, chillers, motors, pumps, piping and valves, cooling towers, heat exchangers, evaporative coolers, heaters, DX units, heat pumps, water treatment, exhaust systems, VAV's, electronic and pneumatic controls, ice makers, and other refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Requirements

  • Three to five years' experience as Mechanic Plant.
  • Three to five years' experience as an O&M T/A-Mechanical.
  • Three to five years of chilled water central plant experience as a HVAC Mechanic.
  • Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Uses hand and power tools, electrical test equipment, flow meters, thermometers and vacuum pumps to perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on heating and cooling system equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and monitor the operation of central plant equipment including chillers, heat exchangers, cooling towers, pumps, and controls.
  • Monitor and adjust HVAC equipment operation through the building automation system.
  • Troubleshoot and prepare sequence of operations for building automation system control of HVAC and mechanical equipment.
  • Inspects, maintains, and repairs all controls related to HVAC and mechanical equipment.
  • Reads installation drawings, schematic diagrams, manufacturer IOM manuals, troubleshooting guides, piping diagrams, and disassembly instructions.
  • Disassembles equipment and inspects component parts for maintenance, repair or replacement.
  • Inspects, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment and plumbing systems.
  • Prepares accurate cost estimates and project schedules on multi-discipline jobs.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
