About The Position

Transdev in Chula Vista, CA is seeking an experienced A-Level Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Mechanic A, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our diesel-powered assets. Transdev is proud to offer: Mechanic A Employee represented by Teamsters Local 683: Position Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement: $44.13 per hour Starting pay $44.13 with progression based on CBA negotiation over a 3-year period. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy-duty transit equipment preferred.
  • Five H or T series ASE certifications preferred, of which two must consist of T6, T7, H6, or H7.
  • Additionally, optimally, will possess 609 and 608 air conditioning certificates.
  • Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driving License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements
  • Mechanic’s Tool Set
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.
  • DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; and smell.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold and in a damp environment with moderate noise.
  • May be exposed to water, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on engines.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs
  • Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
  • Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for engines.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge.
  • Other duties as required.
