About The Position

The role of Mechanic 8 is to have efficiently running production and manufacturing equipment and assist with capital projects. Your main focus: Installation of material handling and processing equipment. Change over and Setup packaging equipment. Maintenance of the machinery. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical problems. Effectively communicate with supervisors, other mechanics and outside vendors. Help organize and maintain the parts supply inventory. Perform all responsibilities with good safety and housekeeping practices. Improve the performance and efficiency of the machines. Effectively participate as a team member on various projects. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • A level 8 mechanic should be a consistently good performer. The individual should be able to perform rudimentary tasks in all the following areas and excel at one. A level 8 is expected to perform his/her duties to high standards in the area of safety and timeliness and would be expected to share their knowledge with others.
  • Replace a motor
  • Install a switch
  • Isolate power and lock it out
  • Use electrical test equipment
  • Terminate wires from a diagram
  • Isolate and repair a power circuit problem
  • Understand a power circuit blueprint
  • Trouble shooting
  • Program a process controller (temperature or motor for example)
  • Understand control circuit blueprints
  • Selecting the proper component on a repair or installation
  • Works safely and cleans up after the part is fabricated
  • Operates a lathe and milling machine
  • Accurate use of measurement equipment
  • Welding
  • Use of all other cutting and finishing equipment
  • Can produce a quality part
  • Trouble shooting
  • Knowledge of the machine and equipment used in distribution
  • Ease of understanding unfamiliar equipment
