About The Position

Tilcon Connecticut has an opening for an Equipment Mechanic. As an Equipment Mechanic, the selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers. The Equipment Mechanic will report directly to the Equipment superintendent and will comply with mandatory safety requirements and other functions of the maintenance team.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Mechanical background with 3 years of mechanical experience required.
  • 2 years of mechanical Tech School Training preferred.
  • Moderate IT/computer skills in diagnostics and repair of engine, transmission, and powertrain components.
  • Thorough mechanical knowledge of equipment and vehicles.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Pass a pre-employment 'Fit for Work' physical.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains construction equipment such as trucks, trailers, cranes, paving machines, motor graders, trench digging machines, bulldozers, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools.
  • Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools.
  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
  • Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
  • Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
