About The Position

The Moab Mechanic will service, repair, and maintain heavy equipment used for the Moab Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action (UMTRA) Project at both the Moab and Crescent Junction sites. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities from routine maintenance to complex repairs, ensuring the operational efficiency of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, bulldozers, excavators, and other equipment. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and practical skills in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2-7 years of heavy equipment service, repair, and maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in heavy equipment repair.
• Skilled in the use of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment, welding equipment, and hand tools for repairs.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions.
• Ability to read manuals and schematics.
• Ability to communicate professionally with other mechanics about repair work needed.
• Motivated and willing to work as part of a team and perform multiple job functions.

Nice To Haves

• Diesel mechanic certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing various systems on heavy equipment.
• Performing equipment service maintenance requirements, including oil and hydraulic changes.
• Maintaining inventory of parts and support supplies for routine maintenance.
• Maintaining service records and preparing cost materials estimates.
• Overhauling engines, replacing engines, and rebuilding components.
• Keeping tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition.
• Road testing equipment.
• Performing corrective and preventative maintenance on fleet of intermodal shipping containers.
