About The Position

The Meat & Seafood Shift Leader plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations and Guest Service excellence of the Meat & Seafood department at Plum Market. This position helps lead the team during assigned shifts, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standard. The Shift Leader provides guidance, accountability, and support to Team Members, while upholding product quality, merchandising execution, and sanitation standards. This role works in close partnership with the Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader to maintain consistency and departmental success.

Requirements

Prior experience in meat and seafood retail operations.
Strong knife skills and knowledge of product rotation and food safety practices.
Leadership skills and the ability to hold peers accountable with professionalism.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break – we work on the floor and alongside our team.
Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.

Responsibilities

Lead the Meat & Seafood department during assigned shifts to ensure smooth operations and outstanding service.
Provide support and direction to Team Members regarding product handling, storage, rotation, and sanitation.
Ensure proper execution of merchandising, display building, and department presentation.
Assist with department opening and closing procedures, including cleaning and preparation tasks.
Communicate effectively with Guests and Team Members, resolving issues or escalating when needed.
Reinforce training and help onboard new Team Members during shifts.
Monitor product quality and freshness, addressing any concerns promptly.
Ensure all department tasks are completed thoroughly and in compliance with Plum Market standards and policies.
