The Mgr, Meat & Seafood position manages the daily operations of meat and seafood departments, increasing customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. This role is accountable for providing fresh and appealing products, courteous service, and executing merchandising plans. It involves teaching, coaching, and training meat cutters on standards and trim specifications, while maintaining core assortment and meat case flow. This is a working management position that requires a balance of physical labor, delegation, team building, leadership, planning, and administrative work.

Requirements

  • High School / GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3 - 6 years of supervisory experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain the same.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, and labeling.
  • Proficient with computer applications used in effectively operating the department.
  • Possession of Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of placement.

Responsibilities

  • Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated.
  • Ensures the department is merchandised per plan and delivers daily conditions that meet company expectations.
  • Trains department associates on freshness, inventory levels, stocking, and ordering.
  • Offers customers assistance in finding or suggesting products and fulfills customer requests and special orders.
  • Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating and promoting teamwork.
  • Establishes goals for merchandising, sales, and profits and empowers the team to meet or exceed these goals.
  • Manages schedules to ensure tasks are completed during peak hours.
  • Completes daily and weekly administrative tasks including communications, online training, scheduling, and pricing changes.
  • Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports discrepancies.
  • Plans, organizes, and performs the inventory process.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, food handling practices, and sanitation standards.
  • Executes product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner.
  • Cultivates a culture of safety within the store.
