The primary objective of the Meat & Seafood Clerk is to provide customer service and department cleaning duties, perform meat cutting, food preparation, stocking, and product rotation, and contribute toward ensuring a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees. Emphasis in this position is to meet daily customer service needs. The primary learning challenge involves learning retail cutting techniques for all meat and seafood cuts, achieving proficiency with the saw, and mastering merchandising techniques. This position requires ongoing heavy lifting, standing, operation of meat equipment, exposure to cold temperatures and wet surfaces, judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, listening skills, and reading. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. The Meat and Seafood Manager or person in charge provides assignments and work directions.
