The Meat & Seafood Assistant Team Leader supports the daily operations and team leadership of the Meat & Seafood department at Plum Market. This role partners closely with the Team Leader to ensure consistent execution of merchandising, production, inventory, labor, and retail Customer Service standards. The Assistant Team Leader helps train and supervise Team Members, supports margin and shrink goals, and ensures high standards of product quality, cleanliness, and presentation. In the absence of the Team Leader, this role assumes full departmental leadership responsibilities. Who you are: You model and provide exceptional retail Customer Service.   • Support daily department operations including receiving, cutting, packaging, merchandising, and sanitation.
  • Assist the Team Leader with training, coaching, and supervising Team Members to uphold performance and service standards.
  • Ensure proper rotation, storage, and labeling of all meat and seafood products.
  • Help monitor inventory, control shrink, and meet margin goals.
  • Maintain accurate pricing and signage across all fresh and packaged items.
  • Participate in building displays, executing promotional sets, and seasonal merchandising.
  • Provide prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service to Guests.
  • Step into leadership responsibilities as needed when the Team Leader is unavailable.
  • Communicate department needs and opportunities to Store Leadership and Support Teams.
  • Uphold all Plum Market policies, safety procedures, and standard operating practices.
  • Previous experience in meat and seafood operations, including product handling and cutting.
  • Strong knife skills and a working knowledge of safety, sanitation, and rotation practices.
  • Ability to manage and update order guides, inventory logs, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Clear communication skills with Team Members, Customers, and Leadership.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break – we work on the floor, and alongside our team.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts up to 100 lbs. unassisted.
