About The Position

The Meat Sales Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring that the meat department operates smoothly and meets customer expectations. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at maintaining the quality and presentation of meat products while providing excellent customer service. The associate is expected to keep the meat department cases well-stocked and visually appealing to attract customers and meet their demands. Greeting customers with a smile, making product suggestions, and answering questions about different cuts and preparation methods are essential aspects of this role. Additionally, the associate will take orders for future delivery and assist in fulfilling special requests, ensuring customer satisfaction at all times. In terms of product management, the associate is responsible for setting up displays, rotating products, and ensuring that all meat is fresh and in saleable condition. This includes proper pricing and signage, as well as handling any spoiled or damaged products according to company procedures. The associate may also be involved in grinding and cutting certain meats and poultry, as well as weighing and wrapping merchandise at customer requests. Maintaining logs to track freshness and quality is also a key responsibility, along with adhering to food safety and personal hygiene standards when handling products or using kitchen tools. The Meat Sales Associate must ensure general sanitation in the department by following cleaning schedules and guidelines to keep work areas, equipment, and display cases clean and compliant with health and OSHA requirements. Proper disposal of trash and emptying of bone cans are also part of the daily duties. The associate will assist in minimizing shrink and controlling damages by reporting any shortages or overages to the manager. Additionally, the role may involve assisting with receiving deliveries and operating equipment like power jacks or hand jacks, provided the associate has received the necessary training. Overall, the Meat Sales Associate is expected to work collaboratively with co-workers and superiors to continuously improve job performance and contribute to a positive work environment.
