The Meat Packing and Processing Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations of a slaughterhouse, ensuring that all processes related to animal handling, meat processing, and quality control are conducted efficiently and in compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires a strong focus on operational management, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, quality control, safety management, animal welfare, inventory management, and accurate reporting. The assistant manager will work closely with the plant manager to ensure that the facility operates smoothly and adheres to industry best practices and legal requirements. In this role, the assistant manager will supervise and coordinate daily activities, ensuring that slaughtering, meat processing, and packaging are performed in a timely and efficient manner. They will develop and implement operational procedures aimed at improving productivity while maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment. Staff management is also a key responsibility, as the assistant manager will recruit, train, and oversee the performance of slaughterhouse workers and butchers, ensuring that safety and quality standards are met. Regulatory compliance is paramount in this position, as the assistant manager will ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations regarding animal welfare and food safety. They will maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and facilitate inspections by regulatory agencies, addressing any compliance issues that may arise. Quality control procedures will be overseen to ensure that meat products meet safety and quality standards, with a focus on hygiene practices to prevent contamination. Safety management is another critical aspect of this role, as the assistant manager will develop and enforce safety protocols to protect employees and minimize workplace hazards.
