About The Position

The Meat Operations Manager will oversee the operations and performance of the meat departments at store level providing guidance to meat managers to evaluation their sale items and assist with training and development of store employees. The Meat Operations Manager will foster a culture of leadership and assist in providing our customers fresh meat, seafood, and poultry products on a daily basis. Essential Functions of the Position: Provide leadership, set expectations, and hold themselves and others accountable for their area’s successful implementation of strategic, operational, and tactical goals. Communicate expectations and describe what success looks like by building trusting relationships to ensure concerns, thoughts, and ideas are heard and acted upon. Model performance standards and foster relationships through open and honest communications, coaching, and engagement. Facilitate discussions among Managers to ensure expectations are clear, share best practices, address not meeting standards, and resolve open questions. Will be required to travel frequently, to stores assigned by the Meat Director, where the need may occur on a weekly basis. This could be several stores during the work week and could change on a daily basis. Review what improvements could be made to help the operation of the department and relay this information to the Meat Operations Manager to oversee the changes. Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards mandate by state, federal and OSHA regulations. Maintain all work areas in compliance with USDA guidelines. Delegate responsibilities through maintaining effective communication as well as hold employees accountable for quality of work complete. Ensure employees are performing to company expectations and providing premier service. Update cost files for inventory and weekly pricing as needed.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of meat department management and sales strategies.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of primal product cuts.
  • Expertise in retail stocking procedures and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food handling.
  • Exceptional leadership, supervisory, and training skills.

  • Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills in handling small objects.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers and team members.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Over five years of Meat Manager experience is required.
  • Supervisory experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of meat-cutting experience in a retail environment is preferred.
