About The Position

Food For Less Piggly Wiggly in Panama City, FL is seeking an experienced Meat Department Supervisor. This full-time, leadership role involves managing the meat department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and providing quality meat, poultry, and fish products. Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years as a butcher or cutter.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Current, valid, Food Handler Card.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Personable, outgoing, and enthusiastic about interacting with diverse guests.
  • Passionate about butchery work and exceptional product delivery.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a sense of urgency while maintaining great customer service.
  • Committed to providing an enjoyable and delicious shopping experience, championing local purveyors, and advocating for environmental stewardship.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate to Panama City Florida 32401 before starting work.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the meat department including continuous development of effective store associates to achieve desired sales and profit results.
  • Assess daily the departments' ability to meet/exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness, cleanliness, food safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Coaching and development of store associates through both formal and informal interactions.
  • Demonstrate the company's values of respect, civility, honesty, integrity, belonging and safety.
  • Assist grocery store manager and associates in the achievement of a favorable customer shopping experience.
  • Lead teams in the planning, implementation and execution of merchandising and operating initiatives.
  • Work with department leaders and associates to identify opportunities in the store, develop timely solutions and create action plans to ensure implementation of plans.
  • Achieve/exceed weekly, period, and annual sales, wage budgets and profit budgets, and other targeted goals.
  • Drive sales working with department leaders to maximize sales and profits, reduce shrink and improve each store department's contribution.
  • Assist the GM/store manager in the regular store-level financial performance discussions to include developing budgets and other targeted goals with store associates.
  • Utilize coordinators and other field staff to ensure store departments are achieving sales and profit goals and ensure implementation, and execution of division merchandising plans.
  • Promote and support strong relationships with local community organizations in the surrounding area in which the store operates.
  • Serve as liaison providing feedback to Store Manager, District Manager and Coordinators on the effectiveness of Division merchandising and operational plans/programs.
  • Assist the store manager in the hiring, onboarding, development and associate relations responsibilities.
  • Reduce turnover and increase retention.
  • Provide timely feedback to department leaders and associates on individual and department performance.
  • Assist with the management of labor and supply costs daily to meet customer service and financial targets.
  • Achieve a satisfactory level of technical and professional skills or knowledge in position and/or related areas; keep up with current developments and trends.
  • Ensure associates and location comply with laws and regulation applicable to the company.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports on the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Manage inventory to maximize profits while minimizing spoilage and demolition.
  • Responsible for the sanitation of the meat and seafood and proper food handling, rotation, labeling, etc.
  • Ensures that the meat and seafood case is stocked throughout the day to maximize sales and minimize spoilage.
  • Ensure all holiday and special orders are on time and the customer is satisfied and returns to us for all their butcher needs.
  • Manages an organized work environment where workflow is efficient while maintaining the highest standards of food quality.
  • Helps create a team environment that harnesses and develops the staff’s strengths and abilities.
  • Provides direction and guidance around all company systems, policies and procedures for the team.
  • Train employees on all aspects of meat and seafood operations including safe operation and use of equipment such as knives, saws, wrappers, scales, as well as other equipment.
  • Prioritizes duties and delegates tasks.
  • Provides weekly schedules adhering to all break and lunch regulations.
  • Manages the storage, stocking, rotation, and maintenance of all products.
  • Helps to order, receive, and manage inventory at a reasonable level for optimal meat and seafood operation.
