GENERAL PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to ensure that the Meat department maintains quality standards and profitability. This person will train and mentor all Meat associates and know all aspects of the Meat department. This person will also determine production and inventory levels for the Meat department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services the Meat department provides Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the Meat department Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items Ensures the Meat department is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance Delivers excellent customer service to all customers Ordering product and creating production sheets to meet the needs of the Meat department based on past and projected sales Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner Is knowledgeable about all cuts of beef, pork, chicken, turkey, seafood, etc. and is able to cut all Meats Grinds fresh hamburger and sausage Sets a professional and positive example to others Communicates openly and frequently with Store Director and Director of Fresh Meat Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained Writing the Meat department schedule to ensure coverage and meet labor goals Teaches, mentor, and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team Provides honest, direct, and constant feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement; assesses associate performance and influences promotion, discipline, etc. Promptly addresses and resolves associates’ concerns and/or grievances Quarterly inventory of all Meat department products MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
