Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an enthusiastic, customer‑focused environment with an emphasis on fast and friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via phone, intercom, and direct customer interaction.
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes in alignment with company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Trim, cut, wrap, tray, and display meat products.
  • Build and maintain meat and seafood displays; rotate stock and remove outdated or spoiled items.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and department.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Operate and maintain meat coolers, freezers, and butcher block equipment.
  • Follow and uphold department standards for handling quick‑sale items.
  • Conduct cutting tests to monitor product profitability.
  • Ensure trim specifications, cutting standards, and temperature requirements are met throughout preparation, display, and storage.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Monitor employee productivity and evaluate performance.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels to maintain service standards.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all department roles and assist with cutting, grinding, and wrapping fresh meat products.
  • Understand and execute opening and closing procedures.
  • Train employees on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Identify and develop employees with potential for advancement.
  • Apply company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Conduct personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary measures.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every four weeks.
  • Control inventory to ensure adequate quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Maintain inventory levels according to division directives; stock and rotate product; organize meat cooler.
  • Manage shrink and cost controls.
  • Apply correct product preparation techniques.
  • Complete and maintain required paperwork, including daily log sheets, Production Charts, Meat Grinding Logs, and Sales and Labor reports.
  • Safely operate equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, grinders, saws, saw blades, and cubers.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Follow temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
