About The Position

The Meat Manager is responsible for receiving product and ensuring that aisles, freezers, and refrigerators are stocked, labeled, clean, and that delivered product is packed out. The role requires providing proper customer service and developing relationships with large customers. The Meat Manager supervises all activities in the meat department, including product placement, rotation, signage, and displays, while ensuring overall department appearance, cleanliness, and adherence to both government and corporate ordinances. The position involves maintaining records as required and overseeing the Assistant Meat Manager, Meat Supervisors, and Stockers to ensure the department operates according to company standards. Responsibilities include developing schedules, monitoring performance, training employees, conducting interviews, and ensuring compliance with HACCP regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, OR High School Diploma OR GED with at least 4 years experience in customer service, OR any appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, mass, and volume.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation.
  • Computer Literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper customer service and develop relationships with large customers.
  • Supervise all activities in the meat department including product placement, rotation, signage, and displays.
  • Maintain overall department appearance, cleanliness, and adherence to government and corporate ordinances.
  • Maintain records as required.
  • Oversee the Assistant Meat Manager, Meat Supervisors, and Stockers.
  • Develop schedules and monitor performance.
  • Train employees in job responsibilities and safe operating procedures.
  • Interview candidates and recommend hires.
  • Discipline employees when necessary and recommend terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP regulations and conduct periodic HACCP audits.
  • Review inventory for product rotation to prevent shrinkage and damages.
  • Ensure correct shelf pricing reflecting recent pricing and market conditions.
  • Supervise the receiving of all meat products and ensure proper paperwork is completed.
  • Maintain accurate computer inventory levels and perform regular physical inventories.
  • Supervise ordering of meat products from vendors.
  • Ensure all employees can operate necessary equipment.
  • Coordinate proper merchandising of aisles and impulse areas.
  • Perform weekly self audits of the meat department.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
