To learn more, please visit www.northgatemarkets.com ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Leadership Ensure that all associates are trained in the store's method of performing activities and functions. Maintain a positive work environment and ensure a fair and consistent treatment of all associates. Set a positive example of the company values and excellent customer service. Meet department Voice of the Customer / SMG standards. Recruit, select, on-board, coach, and develop the best associates possible to achieve store, company, strategic and tactical goals. Set clear performance expectations for associates and follow-up with timely performance evaluations and proper compensation. Operations Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations (e.g. weight and measures, COOL) Follow approved receiving procedures to ensure product quality and rotation. Maintaining & recording accurately inventory levels to maximize sales and optimize gross profit. Follows merchandising standards and systems as defined schematics, productions planning, merchandising and display standards, known loss tacking. Enforce and manage the local vendors to ensure proper service and inventory levels and standards. Ensure that the correct retail prices are displayed in the scale labels and price tags and communicate any price discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator. Maintain inventory control to ensure freshness, product quality and turnover for maximum sales and return-on-investment. Control excessive use of utilities and water. Control supplies inventory and expenses. Ensure that proper cleaning routine is conducted at the end of the shift in accordance with the Company procedures. Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service. Execute all department programs to ensure that the customer service, employee productivity, and meat cases presentation are being met. Maintain general housekeeping and sanitation standards in compliance with store policy and state and local health regulations on a regular, ongoing basis. Implement all merchandising plans (e.g. schematics, new items, promotional programs) issued by the support center. Oversee that all meat cuts are properly trimmed and displayed. Ensure that all associates are utilizing the correct PLU that corresponds with the proper product trays in accordance with the weights and measures regulations. Perform any other work-related duties as assigned. Safety Inspect and maintain equipment in good working conditions and immediately report any maintenance or equipment issues to Store Management. Comply with company safety policies and procedures and ensure that all department associates do so as well also. Participate in store's safety committee. Notify Store Team Leader of safety policy violations that require disciplinary action. Meet Northgate Standards / County Regulations on safe food handling. Perform/manage all daily safety observations. Comply/train with all department safety regulations. Perform/manage daily Axonify participation. Comply/train with recipe guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent are preferred.
  • One year of experience required in meat department operations.
  • Must be in a current Meat Cutter position
  • Must be able to be relocated to a store within 20 miles from home depending on the needs of the business.
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • Forklift Certification

  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, gross margins, markup, percentages, proportions, ratios, volume and to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to verify vendor invoice charges and counts, and complete required accounting reports.
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Speak the English language to a level that provides good customer service.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use the hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Be able to climb a ladder to retrieve items stored in overhead racks such as trays and wrapping material.
  • Have enough physical mobility or agility to be able to respond quickly to fire or other emergencies and enough dexterity to disassemble and clean meat department saws, grinders, and other equipment.
  • Be able to work continuously in refrigerated coolers and cutting rooms and be able to endure working under temperature extremes (as low as 20®F below zero) in frozen food storage boxes for up to 40 minutes at a time wearing protective clothing, (taking breaks).
